Winter Camping
in Yosemite
1-30 to 1-31-15
Ruth, Zach and I decided to take a last minute road trip to Yosemite for some winter camping and sight seeing. The park was nearly empty and we had a blast checking out the tourist spots without the normal crowds.

We got a campsite in the valley, my first time actually camping on the valley floor. The park is a whole different world in January, almost no people even though it's a weekend. After setting up camp we drove around a bit to see the sights
Our first stop was Yosemite Falls. We took the 1 mile loop trail to the bottom of the falls and did a bit of scrambling for a better vantage point. The falls were flowing nicely for this time of year. We also walked around at the base of El Cap.
The next stop was at Bridalveil Falls. We decided to scramble up to the base of the falls for an added adventure. The rocks were very slippery and it was slow going as we climbed the couple hundred feet to the top. The base of the falls was full of ice and the water spray from the falls was super cold.
We also hiked through the Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias. These giants never fail to amaze!!
We caught some nice shots as the sun set over the valley. The next morning it was back to reality. A great quick trip!!
