Hollywood Sign Hike
3-6-15
We got an early start, beating the LA traffic down to Hollywood to do a hike I have been planning for years. Today we would hike up to the iconic Hollywood Sign!! There were detours on the road to the trail head and signs telling us to turn around, but our persistance was rewarded when we found the trail head open and got a great parking spot.
We started our hike by walking past the Sunset Ranch, a horse rental outfit in the Hollywood Hills.
The trail climbs up a road most of the way with ever expanding views of Downtown LA and it's surroundings.
After enjoying the view from Mount Lee, we took a spur trail to the top of Cahuenga Peak.
After reaching the summit of Cahuenga Peak we noticed there was another trail to hike along the ridgeline. We reached the end of the ridge and found the "Tree of Wisdom". What an amazing place. The views were spectacular!!
We hiked down and drove to Downtown Hollywood for some sightseeing. It was fun to experience Hollywood Blvd on foot.
Our last stop was at the San Gabriel Mission, my first time visiting this Mission. I was amazed at how well preserved the Mission was, one of the best I have been to. The most amazing thing on the tour was a grapevine planted in 1774!!
