Part 3: Big Meadow to Echo Lake
After our picnic lunch we slung the packs and got ready to finish our day of hiking. We planned to get to Round Lake for our camp.
Big Meadow lived up to it's name, a really big meadow. The hiking was easy and beautiful, with a bit of climbing up to Round Lake. We got to the lake and looked around for a good spot to camp, finally settling on a great little beach.
This was to be our last night on the trail, and we definitely saved the best for last. This lake and campsite were absolutely amazing, the best of the whole trip. We had a small fire and enjoyed some cigars, then we were treated to an amazing sunset.
The last day had some great views and a couple of nice lakes to enjoy. I hiked quickly, excited to finish the journey. Ruth was at the trailhead, with some cold beer, waiting for me to arrive. The celebration began immediately!
