Camping in Big Sur
October 2-4, 2014
Our friends Brian and Michelle invited us to tag along on a camping trip in Big Sur, and I jumped at the chance. Ruth and I drove down the coast and met them at Big Sur State Park. We had an awesome time hanging out and spending some quality time with our friends
McWay Falls at Jullia Pfeiffer Burns State Park was an awesome stop, it was the first time Ruth, Michelle and Brian had been there.
We packed a picnic lunch and had a great time at Garrapata State Beach with the puppies. Brian found his artistic side and built a sand person complete with anatomical correct features... The puppies played in the waves and we threw the football around. A great time.
One of the hikes we took was to the top of Buzzard's Roost, a mountain in the park. The trail was dry and warm, but pretty shaded until the top. The trail is a loop, and we did not initially plan to hike all the way to the top, but once we started we just kept going. The view from the top was nice, with the ocean in the distance, and we relaxed and let the puppies rest on top.
Ruth and I took our time getting back home, enjoying the sights on Highway 1. We stopped at the iconic Bixby Bridge for some pictures, and stopped for a delicious dinner in Half Moon Bay. An awesome end to an awesome weekend.
