Cambria 2012- Day 2
May 8 2012
We started day 2 of our trip by enjoying an amazing free breakfast buffet at our hotel, the Cambria Pines Lodge. I had gotten a great deal on this awesome resort at TravelZoo, and we were shocked at how nice it was. I would recommend this hotel to anyone, we had a perfect stay.
We drove north on Hwy 1 up to San Simeon to visit the Elephant Seals. This is a popular beach and always sports hundreds of seals. There is a conservancy that cares for the seals and provides docents to answer questions
We visited a couple of the beaches along Hwy 1 and enjoyed the perfect weather. There were some wind surfers taking advantage of the breeze and jumping the waves. The wild flowers were in bloom all along our drive, and today was no exception.
We spent the rest of our day roaming around the town of Cambria. Cambria is an amazing little place with awesome small shops and restaurants. The gardens are also great, lots of Golden Poppies and Calla Lilies. We did a bit of wine tasting at Fermentations, a locally owned wine shop in Downtown Cambria.
I have a bit of a fascination with old cemeteries, so we visited the Historic Santa Rosa Chapel and Cemetery. It was pretty interesting and had the nicest porta potty I have ever seen!!
